Safety Kit FAQ

Immediate Action Required

Q: Is there any issue with units currently shipping from OmniMount?

A: No. FP-CL (also marketed as "37ARM"), Plasma CL (also marketed as "48ARM") and Plasma UCL (also marketed as "48ARMUA") products shipped after December 15, 2005 have been built to original specifications and are available for sale and customer installation.

Q: How do I know if the OmniMount product that I have installed needs a Safety Upgrade Kit?

A: Some units may not require the safety upgrade. However to be safe, it is important that all FP-CL/37ARM units shipped between June 1, 2005 and December 15, 2005, all Plasma CL/48ARM units shipped between March 3, 2005 and December 15, 2005, and all Plasma UCL/48ARMUA units shipped between November 2, 2004 and December 15, 2005 be modified by the installation of this Safety Upgrade Kit. If you purchased your FP-CL/37ARM after June 1, 2005, Plasma CL/48ARM after March 3, 2005 or Plasma UCL/48ARMUA after November 2, 2004, your product may need a Safety Upgrade Kit, so please contact OmniMount Customer Service toll-free at 1 800-668-6848 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Pacific time) for additional help.

Q: What about other OmniMount Mounts?

A: This notice only applies to the FP-CL/37ARM, Plasma CL/48ARM and Plasma UCL/48ARMUA units shipped during the relevant time period. No other cantilever mounts or any other OmniMount products are affected.

Q: What specifically is wrong with the affected units?

A: During the relevant time period, some FP-CL/37ARM, Plasma CL/48ARM and Plasma UCL/48ARMUA units were shipped with screws that were too short to properly engage the wrist pin. This could lead to a loosening of the wrist pin and, in rare cases, mount failure. There is absolutely no issue with using a product shipped during the relevant time period, as long as the Safety Upgrade Kit is installed.

Q: What can happen without the addition of the Safety Upgrade Kit?

A: It is unlikely, but if a flat panel is adjusted repeatedly, over time the wrist pin could loosen and the flat panel might fall, which could result in property damage or personal injury.

Q: How hard is it to install the Safety Upgrade Kit?

A: It is an easy procedure; detailed instructions on how to replace the wrist pin are included with the Safety Upgrade Kit. OmniMount also has an installation guide available at www.omnimount.com/safetykit. Consult OmniMount Customer Service if you have any questions regarding the proper installation of this Safety Upgrade Kit.
